ABSTRACT
This paper proposes a newly adaptive Single Neuron PID (SNPID) controller which uses fuzzy logic as an adaptive system. The main problem of the classical controller is lacking the required robustness against disturbers, measure-ments’ noises in industrial applications. The new formula of the proposed controller helps in fixing this problem based on the fuzzy logic technique. Also, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) used to optimize SNPID controller parameters. Be-cause of the high demands on availability and efficiency of electrical power production, the design of robust Load fre-quency controller is becoming increasingly important due to their potential in increasing the reliability, maintainability, and safety for power systems. So, the proposed controller has been applied in Load Frequency Control (LFC) of a single area power system. It compares the effectiveness of the proposed SNPID controller with the conventional con-trollers. The simulation results show that the proposed controller approach provides better damping of oscillations with a smaller settling time. And, it confirms their superiority against their counterparts. Also, the results show the robust-ness of the proposed controller against the parameter variation of the system.
